As a young man picking coffee and working on a farm were a right of passage that made a deep impression on him.
His passion for agriculture and farming was rekindled 13 years ago when he met Karen Ertell – master roaster. Her passion for Hawaii’s coffees and the art of roasting became a part of Kamaka which continues to this day.
amaka believes as we do that Hawaii’s coffee industry is the best way to provide a sustainable agriculture footprint which preserves our heritage and community. The dedication to this mission is ably supported by his life and work partner Franchesca Ho’opai, their son and their beloved ‘poi’ dog Chewie. nkope like many businesses in Hawaii is a family affair and we are fortunate to count Kamaka’s family as part of our own.
